# Build a Conversational Segment

> Target contacts based on how they respond to conversations.

With Conversational Segments, you can target your customers based on how they respond to conversations in Emotive. Learn about your customers, and we'll help you build hyper-personalized segments that you can use to retarget later.

Create segments based on insights collected through conversations, such as shopping preferences (size, color, style) or attributes (occupation, hair color, age group).

## Build a new Conversational Segment

Before getting started, make sure that you have a two-way Conversation Flow set up. Each question has a series of answer tags that we generate through Experiences. Our Shopping Experts will tag each customer response accordingly.

To build a new Conversational Segment:

* Navigate to [Segments](https://www.emotiveapp.co/segments/) from your Emotive dashboard.
* Click **Create New Segment**.
* Name your segment.
* Under your *Segment Rules*, select **What a subscriber has done (or not done)** from the dropdown.
* Select **Replied to a text** from the following dropdown.
* Select the desired Conversational experience.
* Choose which answer(s) you'd like to target.
* Click **Create Segment**.

Once your new segment is saved, you can find all your Conversational segments in the *Conversational* tab on the Segments page.
