Frequency: The ideal number of broadcasts to send per month is somewhere between 2-6, the right number will depend on your brand specifically. You may want to inform your customers once they sign up approximately how often they can expect to hear from you.
Timing: Wednesdays and Saturdays tend to be great days to send broadcasts however if you are running a promo that starts on a Monday, make sure to inform your customers about it at that time. Another thing to keep in mind is to try to make sure that the message gets sent during normal business hours, 9am PST / 12pm EST works well.
Attachments: We strongly advise that you include a relevant image (600 KB or less and can be a jpeg, png) or .gif whenever you are broadcasting to a large number of your subscribers. This will help boost the delivery rate and reduce the chance that the message will get marked as spam and not reach your customers.
Length: Try to keep the message as concise as possible without resorting to texting shorthand to save characters. If you need to abbreviate, ensure you’re using abbreviations that are universally recognized. The maximum character limit is 1,000 characters.
Clarity: Be sure to always introduce yourself using your brand name when you send a broadcast (i.e. -Emotive: Hi Sara how is it going?) **Important to always send with brand name first then rest of broadcast body.
Action: Always be sure to clarify what you want your customers to do by using a clear call to action such as “Tap to shop: LINK” or “Tap to learn more: LINK”
Offers: Be sure to occasionally include promos and discounts that are exclusive to your SMS subscribers. There is a good chance that many of your customers are also subscribed to email or follow you on social media, if they see the same offer they just received via SMS they may choose to opt out knowing they can get their offers elsewhere.
