Broadcasts are perfect for notifying your audience about new products, sales, and other important updates. This article will take you through creating and sending a Broadcast message in Emotive.

Create a New Broadcast

  • Navigate to Broadcasts.
  • Select Create Broadcast.
You’ll be brought into the Broadcast builder, where you will craft your message and configure its settings.

Broadcast Name + Type

First thing’s first, you’ll want to give your Broadcast a name (i.e., Restock Alert - January 2025). Next, you have the option between creating a Standard message, or building an A/B Test.
This article discusses building a Standard Broadcast. If you need guidance on building an A/B Test, you can reference this article.

Choose your Segments

Once you’ve named your Broadcast, it’s time to select your recipients.
  • Under Segments, choose 1 or more Segments that you’d like to receive this message.
  • Optional: Choose 1 or more Segments that you’d like to exclude from receiving this message.

Craft your Message

Once you’ve selected your Segments, it’s time to create your message.
  • Image or GIF: Upload an image to your broadcast. Image files must be smaller than 5mb.
  • **Discount: **Enter a discount code, if necessary.
  • Message: Start typing your text message. A preview of your message will appear on the right.
    • You can personalize your message by adding variables (i.e., contact’s first name) and emojis by using the pickers in the bottom right of your message box.
    • Paste links in your message. We will automatically validate and shorten the URL.
    • Optional: Select whether or not you want to include opt-out instructions at the end of your message.
As you’re creating your message, you’ll see a preview of the number of characters and SMS segments required to send your message. To learn more about how SMS segments work, check out this guide.

Schedule a Follow Up Message

To automatically follow up with any recipients who didn’t order from your first message:
  • Toggle ON the Follow up with customers who haven’t ordered option below your Message.
  • Repeat the above steps to craft your follow up message.
  • Choose a Follow-up send time between 1 - 48 hours.
Any contacts who received this message, yet did not place an order, will receive this follow up. We see brands generate an average of 82% more in sales from follow-up Broadcasts.

Preview and Test

You’ll see a preview of your message on the right side of your screen. If you’d like to test your message(s), click Send me a test below the preview.

Review and Send

Once you’re happy with your message variants and settings, you can schedule your Broadcast to send:
  • Click Review and send when you’re ready to proceed.
  • You will have the option to Schedule your message for a future time, or Send the message immediately.
  • Use the Review and Send modal to give your copy and content one last review before sending or scheduling your message.
  • You can use the Back option to return to editing your content, if needed.
